Kerry Shepherdson
Bird in Paradise...
In this solo exhibition Kerry explored the idea of Paradise in an avian context with colour and abstraction in this solo exhibition. Engaging with the idea of Paradise as metaphor, the work is suggesting a state of bliss or ecstasy and uplift of mood or emotional state. This arises from the sense of joy bestowed through observation of the natural world phenomenon of formation flight of birds, the often strange dance-like behaviour of individuals and the act of painting. To this artist Paradise is also symbolic of a place like a secret garden or a temple formalized, stylized and paradoxically inhabited by creatures of elusive and fleeting beauty and a place for contemplation and rejuvenation.
